Family behavior therapy (FBT) is a comprehensive treatment modality that is used to rebuild the family unit. Substance use disorders and mental health cannot only negatively impact an individual, but it can wreak havoc on the entire family unit.
This comprehensive therapy teaches healthy boundaries, communication, self-control, stimulus-control, employment-seeking skills, conflict resolution skills and an array of other essential skills that are needed to maintain a healthy family unit. Family members come together with the therapist to discuss thoughts, emotions and negative issues that are contributing to the mental health and substance abuse disorder.
